Prelims 2017 · Economy · Question 5
With reference to 'National Investment and Infrastructure Fund', which of the following statements is/are correct? 1. It is an organ of NITI Aayog. 2. It has a corpus of Rs. 4,00,000 crore at present. Select the correct answer using the code given below:
Answer
Neither 1 nor 2
1. It is an organ of NITI Aayog. NIIF is not an organ of NITI Aayog. It is a government-backed investment platform/fund manager set up in 2015, with the Government of India as an anchor investor. Verdict: Incorrect.
2. It has a corpus of Rs. 4,00,000 crore at present. This is incorrect. NIIF was conceived with a much smaller corpus/target size; the figure Rs. 4,00,000 crore does not match NIIF’s corpus. Verdict: Incorrect.
Since both statements are incorrect, the correct answer is (d) Neither 1 nor 2.
