With reference to the cultivation of Kharif crops in India in the last five years, consider the following statements:<br/>1. Area under rice cultivation is the highest.<br/>2. Area under the cultivation of jowar is more than that of oilseeds.<br/>3. Area of cotton cultivation is more than that of sugarcane.<br/>4. Area under sugarcane cultivation has steadily decreased.<br/><br/>Which of the statements given above is/are correct?

1. Correct. In recent Kharif seasons, rice has the largest sown area among Kharif crops in India, clearly higher than pulses, oilseeds, cotton, jowar, or sugarcane.

2. Incorrect. Jowar area is much lower than total oilseeds area in Kharif; oilseeds (especially soybean and groundnut) occupy a far larger area.

3. Correct. Cotton is cultivated on a much larger area than sugarcane in India during Kharif seasons.

4. Incorrect. Sugarcane area has not steadily decreased over the last five years; it has shown fluctuations rather than a continuous decline.
