  3. 2 and 3 only
  4. 1, 2 and 3

Answer

2 only

1. Incorrect. India’s GM mustard (DMH-11) is not a Bt pest-resistant crop. It uses the barnase, barstar and bar genes for hybrid seed production and herbicide tolerance, not broad-spectrum pest resistance.

2. Correct. GM mustard was developed using a barnase-barstar system that enables cross-pollination/hybridization by creating male sterility and restoring fertility in hybrids.

3. Incorrect. GM mustard was developed mainly by the Centre for Genetic Manipulation of Crop Plants, University of Delhi; it was not jointly developed by IARI and Punjab Agricultural University.
