In terms of CO2 emissions from fuel combustion, India ranks second in Asia-Pacific region. III. Electricity and heat producers are the largest source of CO2 emissions in India. Which of the statements given above is/are correct?
Answer
II and III only
I. Incorrect. India’s per capita CO2 emissions have long been well above 0.5 t CO2/capita (around 1+ t in the relevant period), so this statement is false.
II. Correct. In the Asia-Pacific region, China ranks first in CO2 emissions from fuel combustion, and India ranks second.
III. Correct. In India, the electricity and heat production sector is the largest contributor to CO2 emissions from fuel combustion.
Therefore, statements II and III only are correct.
